
Women's Basketball Takes to the Road for SIUE

Five Things to Know
- After collecting her 50th career victory on Wednesday, Coach Jacie Hoyt and the Roos travel to SIUE on Saturday for a matchup on ESPN+.
- This will be the second time that Kansas City takes on the Cougars since Coach Hoyt took over in 2017. The first matchup went the Roos' way, 80-75.
- Junior transfer Paige Bradford has posted double-doubles in back-to-back games, making an immediate impact for the Roos. She has led Kansas City in rebounding in all three games thus far.
- Junior Emily Ivory has knocked down at least three three-pointers in all three games to open the season. Reaching back to last season, that streak stands at four-straight games.
- Junior Jonaie Johnson's scoring continues to spell success for the Roos. Kansas City is 2-0 this season when she scores in double digits and 13-0 in her career.

- The Roos came out of the gates firing, scoring 28 points in the first quarter, and never looking back.
- Paige Bradford collected her second double-double in as many games, posting 14 points and 12 rebounds.
- Jonaie Johnson flirted with a triple-double, dropping 10 points, a career-high nine assists and pulling down eight rebounds.
- Naomie Alnatas led the Roos in scoring for the first time in her career, finishing with 15.
- The Roos continued to wreak havoc on the defensive end, forcing the Cardinals into 21 turnovers. The Roos have won the turnover battle in all three games so far this season.
Last Time vs. SIUE: Kansas City won, 80-75 (12/20/2018)
- SIUE traveled to Kansas City in December of 2018 for the Roo Holiday Classic. Kansas City went 2-0 in the Classic, while the Cougars went 0-2.
- After falling behind 26-13 after the first quarter, Kansas City used a 25-14 fourth to complete the comeback and down the Cougars.
- Ericka Mattingly showed what she was capable of, finishing with 26 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists. Mattingly finished her two-year Kansas City career with over 1,000 points.
- Overall, four Roos reached double digit scoring. Kristen Moore, Brooke Hampel and Leilah Vigil all joined Mattingly with over 10 points.
- The main difference in the game was made at the free throw line: Kansas City went 23-of-28 while SIUE went 10-of-18.
All-Time Series vs. SIUE: KC leads, 7-5
- Kansas City and SIUE are common foes, playing each other for the 13th time dating back to the 1980-81 season.
- The Cougars won the first ever matchup, but then Kansas City went on the longest run in the series' history, rattling off five-straight wins from 1983-2008.
- The highest scoring game for either team came on Feb. 4, 1983, when the Roos took down SIUE 101-47.
- The Roos hold a 2-3 record all-time when playing in Edwardsville, with the last such victory coming in 1986.
- Since then, the Cougars have won two-straight games in Illinois, once in 2009 and once in 2013.
- SIUE's longest winning streak stands at three games, when the Cougars beat the Roos in three-straight seasons from 2013-15.

- The Cougars have shown a balanced scoring attack, with three players averaging over 10 points per game. Mikayla Kinnard leads the scoring attack, averaging 14.0.
- Ajulu Thatha is one to watch for on the boards, she is averaging 9.0 rebounds per game through the Cougars first three contests. Allie Troeckler is not far behind, averaging 8.3 boards per game.
- Kinnard is also the leading facilitator for the Cougars, averaging three assists per game. As a team, the Cougars average nearly 14 assists each game.
- SIUE forces and commits a fair share of turnovers. While the Cougars have forced an average of 20.7 giveaways per game, they have also committed 21.3 on average.
