
Kansas City and Drake Play to Draw

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Kansas City Women's Soccer (4-0-2) team ended this afternoon with a 1-1 double-overtime draw at the Drake (1-4-1) University Bulldogs from the Cownie Soccer Complex. The Roos continue on their season-best start as they are undefeated through six games.
"To play back-to-back games on the road and have both of them go to double overtime against quality Missouri Valley Conference teams and remain undefeated is exciting," said head coach Chris Cissell. "To start 4-0-2 against the quality teams we have faced is a nice tribute to our Soccer Family. I am proud of our team and they are really helping me through a difficult time right now." Coach Cissell rejoined the team this morning after being with his family in St. Louis after his father passed away.

Heading into the second half with a 0-0 tie, Drake struck first with a goal by Olivia Bruce in the 51st minute. Her goal was assisted by Libby Helverson. About eight minutes later, the Roos hit pay dirt with the tying marker.

Kansas City freshman Lindsey Prokop took a pass by Rylan Childers and scored her third career goal in the 59th minute. Childers posted her second season assist and a conference-leading 10th point.

Goalkeeper Afton Fennewald started in her third match this season in goal, posting five saves. She now moves to 2-0-1 on the year.
Offensively, the Roos posted 13 shots, with nine on-target. Drake had 14 overall shots, with six on-goal.
