Roos set to take on Milwaukee, Valpo and South Dakota State
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -
- The Kansas City Volleyball team travels to the Jackrabbit Invitational for the third time in program history, and the second time under Head Coach Christi Posey. The Roos are 3-3 all-time at the Invitational, including a 2-1 showing at their most recent appearance in 2014.
- On Friday morning, Kansas City will face off against Milwaukee for the first time since meeting the Panthers at the Illinois State Classic in 2001. They will seek their first victory in program history against Milwaukee, holding an 0-2 all-time record against the Panthers to this point.
- On Friday afternoon, the Roos will meet with a familiar foe in Valparaiso. Former Mid-Continent Conference (now Summit League) opponents, the two squads have met up 31 times in the past, with the Crusaders holding a 23-8 advantage all-time, including a current 11-match win streak that dates back to 2002.
- On Saturday, Kansas City will take on another former (and future) conference mate. The Roos and Jackrabbits were both in the Summit League from 2007-2012, before Kansas City's move to the Western Athletic Conference. The Jackrabbits hold an 11-7 all-time advantage, but the Roos have taken six of the last seven dating back to 2011.
- Senior Outside Hitter Alicia Harrington surpassed the 1,000 career kill mark in last weekend's loss to Northern Iowa, becoming just the 10th Roo to do so. She currently stands just 33 kills away from moving up to sixth on the program's career kills list.
- Senior Middle Hitter Ty Lukes had her first match of negative hitting percentage (-.091) in her KC career in the loss to Northern Iowa, but responded promptly by hitting for a combined .388 against Austin Peay and Missouri.
- Junior Alex Ratzlaff put on the libero uniform for the first time in her Kansas City career last weekend against Austin Peay and Missouri. The move paid off, as she led the team in digs for both matches.
- The Roos are second in the WAC in two statistical categories: kills per set (12.67) and service aces per set (1.48). Junior Alli Schomers ranks top five in the conference in both service aces per set (.48) and assists per set (7.48).
