Roos Prepare to Face Staunch Competition
- Kansas City Volleyball travels to the Mizzou (Tiger) Invitational for the first time in program history. It is the team's first time in Columbia since 2009, when they traveled to face the Tigers on Sept. 23, a 3-0 loss.
- The Sept. 13 match against Northern Iowa will be the sixth matchup between the two programs. The Panthers currently hold a 4-1 edge over the Roos, but Kansas City was victorious in their most recent clash, a 3-1 victory on Sept. 9, 2017.
- The Roos will face off against Austin Peay for just the fourth time in program history on Sept. 14. The head-to-head is 2-1 in favor of the Governors right now, also holding a 6-5 set advantage. The first meeting between the squads was in November of 1993, a 3-0 Roo victory. The teams met most recently in 2018, a 3-2 loss in what was then the Kangaroo Klassic.
- The Roos are 4-21 all-time against Missouri, but hold the current title between the two squads, having won a 3-1 match in their most recent meeting in 2014. That victory snapped a 10-loss skid against the Tigers that spanned from 1994-2009.
- Kansas City will seek to improve its record against 2018 NCAA Volleyball Championship teams as they take on Northern Iowa and Missouri. The Sept. 6 loss to South Dakota marks the only match against a postseason tournament team to this point.
- With 17 assists in the loss to South Dakota, junior setter Alli Schomers surpassed the 1,500 career assists mark. Her current mark of 1,528 places her at eighth in program history.
- Alicia Harrington's three kills against Tulsa moved her up to 10th in the Kansas City record books with a career mark of 998 kills. She is just two away from becoming the first Roo since Sydney Crimmins in 2015 to eclipse the 1,000 kill mark.
