DENVER – Kansas City junior guard Brandon McKissic has been appointed to the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Competition Committee. A junior from Ferguson, Mo., McKissic is the only student-athlete on the committee. He begins his appointment immediately and continues through June 30, 2021.
"This is an extraordinary accomplishment for Brandon," Kansas City Athletics Director Dr. Brandon Martin said. "As the only student-athlete on the committee, he will provide a much needed voice and perspective regarding welfare and the overall elevation of college basketball. Brandon's appointment is a true testament of leadership, excellence and service."
The 10-member committee reports directly to the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Oversight Committee in an advisory role. The committee also has regular communication with the NCAA Men's Basketball Rules Committee and reviews student-athlete health and safety, sportsmanship and integrity, game operations and presentation, technology and statistical trends.
Brandon is currently serving as Director of the newly-formed Student-Athlete Leadership Cabinet (SALC), which is comprised of all Kansas City student-athletes. He has been involved with a variety of community service projects and helped SALC win the WAC Community Service Award last March. McKissic was named to the WAC All-Defensive team last year as a sophomore, the first Roo to achieve such a honor since the 2013-2014 season.
