Roos Begin Exhibition Play Against Missouri S&T Saturday Afternoon

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – UMKC men's basketball opens the 2016-17 season with an exhibition contest against Missouri S&T on Saturday at Municipal Auditorium. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. CT in downtown Kansas City. The UMKC women's basketball team will play the first half of the doubleheader with a 1 p.m. CT tipoff.
Kareem Richardson's roster features six seniors and six players that saw significant playing time in 2015-16. Preseason All-Western Athletic Conference selections Martez Harrison (Kansas City, Mo.) and LaVell Boyd (Chicago, Ill.) lead the way. Harrison averages 16.7 points, 4.0 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game for his career. Boyd averaged 14.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per contest in 2015-16, his first season with the program. Richardson enters his fourth season at the helm of the Roos program.

UMKC opens the regular season on Friday, Nov. 11 with an 8 p.m. CT tipoff at Creighton. The game will be televised regionally on FOX Sports 2 and FOX Sports Kansas City.
