Men's Tennis Drops Pair of Matches in Hawaii

(Honolulu, Hawaii) - UMKC tennis dropped a pair of 5-2 decisions this weekend in its trip to Hawaii, facing the Rainbow Warriors of Hawaii, and the No. 2 Division II team in the nation, Hawaii Pacific.
On Friday evening, the Roos battled Hawaii in doubles play, taking the match at No. 1, but the Rainbow Warriors tallied the other two to go into singles up 1-0.
In singles play, UMKC got victories at No. 2 and No. 6 from Andrey Smirnov and Conner Edwards, respectively, but UH took three tight wins in three sets at No. 1, 3 and 4 to steal the match.
On Saturday, UMKC was in another tight one, this time in singles play after dropping all three doubles matches. The 'Roos played without Smirnov, and Edwards moved up to No. 4 where he remained hot, winning in three sets. Mike Psarros also picked up a win at No. 5, while HPU took a three-setter at No. 2 over Vinh Pham.
UMKC will return home on Tuesday and Wednesday for matches against Abilene Christian and Omaha.
