Shockers Knock Off UMKC in Men's Tennis Action, 7-0

(Wichita, Kan.) - The UMKC men's tennis squad pushed Wichita State on Saturday afternoon on the road, taking three singles matches to a third set, but eventually fell 7-0.
The Shockers (6-2) jumped out 1-0 in the opening doubles play, with the 20th ranked pair of Tomislav Gregurovic and Tin Ostojic taking the victory at No. 1 by a 6-2 margin. They also won the match at No. 2 to go into singles play with the momentum.
The 'Roos (3-5) ran out to an early lead in singles play, winning the first set at Nos. 1, 2 and 6, but in each match, the Shockers stormed back to take the second set. Airam Castellano proved he could play with the top players in the country, taking No. 39 ranked Ostojic to the brink before falling the deciding third set. Andrey Smirnov and Conner Edwards also took their matches to the final set.
UMKC will be back in action on February 20 at Oral Roberts.
