THE GAME
Notables: The 'Roos look to end a couple losing skids on Saturday when South Dakota comes to town to kick off a three-game home stand. The 'Roos have lost five in a row overall, and their last nine at home, while South Dakota comes in dropping 5-of-6, including a loss to UMKC.

- Kansas City announced on Thursday that it will be playing its final season in the Summit League and heading to the WAC starting July 1, 2013.
- Trinity Hall had his second straight double-double, tallying a team-high 13 points and a career-best 11 rebounds vs. Houston Baptist. It was the third double-double of his career.
- Kansas City found out on Monday that it will face Tennessee Tech out of the Ohio Valley Conference in the BracketBuster on February 23 at 7:00 p.m.
- Estan Tyler (.450) and Thomas Staton (.455) rank foruth and third in the league in three-point shooting, respectively, while Fred Chatmon's 7.6 rebounds per game this season rank third in the Summit League. Chatmon also ranks fourth in blocks (1.2 bpg) while Tyler is sixth in assists (3.1 apg).
- The 'Roos have allowed their last six conference opponents to shoot at least 47 percent.
- Brad Reid had a career night vs. Omaha, logging his first ever double-double with 12 points and a career-high 13 boards. He followed with 10 boards against South Dakota State.
- Reid became the 10th different player on the team to have scored double figure points, and the ninth guy to lead the team in points for a contest.
- The 'Roos have lost nine in a row at home, four of which have been league games. In those games, UMKC is allowing opponents to shoot .502 from the field, while hitting .423 on offense. The 'Roos also posted an 87-to-121 assist to turnover ratio, while opponents are at 136-to-105.
- Alton Tanner is out due to injury, sitting the last nine games. Fred Chatmon has also been out the last three games. Six different players have sat out games due to injury this season.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
South Dakota comes into the game with an 8-15 overall record, and is 4-7 in the Summit League. It has dropped five of the last six games after playing the 'Roos the first time around. The lone win came at Oakland.
The Coyotes are led by Kansas State transfer Juevol Myles, who paces the squad in points (15.2 ppg), assists (65) and steals (33). Forward Trevor Gruis averages 11.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game, while Brandon Bos puts up 10.6 points a contest. They also have six players with at least 25 assists.
As a team the Coyotes average 71.2 points per contest to rank third in the league. They are the league's top free throw shooting team at 77.7 percent as well. Defensively, they give up 75.2 points a contest, ranking seventh.
THE COACHES
Matt Brown is in his sixth season as the head coach of the UMKC men's basketball program, and has a 62-117* overall record at the helm. Brown joined the 'Roos as the eighth head coach in school history on April 12, 2007. He has coached eight players to All-Summit League recognition.
His most successful season came in 2010-11 when he posted his only winning record at 16-14 overall. The 'Roos also had the third-most home wins in school history, going 11-4 in Kansas City, and the third-most overall wins in program history that season.
Dave Boots is in his 26th season at South Dakota, and has a 501-229 record there. As a head coach overall, he has a 616-292 mark in 32 years. He helped the Coyotes to a 10-18 mark last season, finishing ninth in the league.
THE SERIES
It will be the fourth ever meeting between the 'Roos and Coyotes, with all of the games in the last two seasons. The 'Roos grabbed their first victory in the series on January 12 in Vermillion, 90-86. They shot a school record 82.6 percent in the second half.
At Swinney, Kansas City is 0-1, having lost by a 76-57 score there on January 7, 2012.
Matt Brown is 1-2 against USD as well.

UP NEXT
Kansas City continues its home swing with a contest against IPFW on Thursday at 7 p.m.
It will be the 13th meeting between the 'Roos and Mastodons, with the series tied 6-6. The two squads split last season with each winning on the other's home floor. The 'Roos continued that trend earlier this year when it took a 63-59 win on January 19.
At home, Kansas City is 4-2, but have lost the last two meetings there.
Matt Brown has a 5-6 mark against IPFW, while Jasick is 1-2 as the head coach and 6-5 with the program.
