Senior Emily Lucas led the Kangaroo offensive attack in the match with 12 kills, while freshmen Jessica Hendin and Emma Hagedorn added 10 and nine, respectively.
In the opening set, the Jaguars gained an early 1-0 advantage with a 25-22 win, before the 'Roos battled back to tie the set at 1-1 with a 25-17 second set victory.
The 'Roos got on the board first in the set on a kill by freshman Sydney Crimmins and quickly extended the margin to 11-7 on a kill by fellow freshman Skyler Muff. The Jags would cut the lead to three, but senior Ella Meier would answer with a pair of kills over the next three points to keep the lead at four. UMKC would go on to build its lead to eight at 22-14, before closing the set out with back-to-back kills from Hendin and Lucas, evening the match.
IUPUI, though, would prove to be too much for the 'Roos, as the home team would take the match with 25-17 and 25-20 wins in the next two sets.
Offensively, freshman Nicole Wemhoff finished with a team-high 24 assists, while Meier added 11. In the back row, freshman Taryn Miller had 14 digs, while freshman Lindsay Zych (11), Lucas (10) and Hendin (10) each had double figures.
The Blue & Gold will back in action again tomorrow night when they take on Western Illinois in Macomb, Ill., at 7 p.m.
