(Madison, Wisc.) - The Kansas City men's soccer squad finished non-conference play on Wednesday night in Big Ten country, falling 2-0 to the Wisconsin Badgers.
Kansas City (6-8-2) played a scoreless opening half against the Badgers (6-7-3), but was out-shot by the home team 6-1, with none of the UW shots on frame.
The final half saw Wisconsin take a 13-1 advantage in shots, but placed only four on goal throughout the game, compared to one for the 'Roos.
UW got on the board in the 60th minute on a goal by Jacob Brindle, who entered the match just over a minute earlier. UMKC came back on the attack after going down a goal, but couldn't find the net with several crosses picked off by the Badgers.
Wisconsin iced it in the 83rd minute when Brindle tallied his second of the game from 15 yards out after Trevor Wheeler saved a ball from the endline and getting it to him.
UMKC goalkeeper Connor Sparrow was forced to make two saves in the game.
The 'Roos look to keep their regular season league title hopes alive when they host IUPUI on Saturday night in the final home game of the season for a 7:00 p.m. Senior Night kickoff.
