The Game:
The 'Roos will hit the road for their final non-conference contest of the season on Wednesday when they face the Wisconsin Badgers of the Big Ten in Madison at 7:00 p.m. Kansas City comes in off a win, while Wisconsin had a two-game win streak snapped by Michigan State in their last outing.
The Coaches
In his 15th season at UMKC, Rick Benben is the winningest coach in school history, posting a 111-134-29 record. Under his guidance, UMKC has captured four Summit League regular season titles and has made three appearances in the NCAA College Cup with the most recent appearance coming in 2008. Benben, the fourth head coach in the Division I era, was inducted into the UMKC Athletics Hall of Fame this past year.
John Trask is in his third season as the head coach at Wisconsin and his eighth as a head coach overall, boasting a 19-28-7 record as a Badger. Overall, he has a 59-31-28 record, spending his previous five seasons at Illinois-Chicago. Last season he led UW to a 10-8-2 overall mark.
The Series
It will be the first ever meeting with Wisconsin for the 'Roos. UMKC is 0-2 against the Big 10 overall, dropping two games to Northwestern.
Scouting the Competition
The Badgers are 5-7-2 overall and 1-3 in Big 10 play after dropping a 2-0 decision to Michigan State this weekend. The only common opponent they have had thus far with UMKC is Florida International. They lost 3-1, while UMKC tied 1-1 with the Panthers.
They are paced on offense by Nick Janus (4 G, 1 A) and Chris Prince (3 G, 5 A), while the two have combined for 54 shots. The team has scored 19 goals overall, while allowing 21 on the season. Defensively, goalkeeper Chase Rau has 45 saves and a 1.35 goals against average.
