
UMKC Clinches Winning Season with 91-58 Win Over Centenary

Kansas City, Mo. -- The UMKC men's basketball team (15-10, 8-6) picked up a 91-58 win over Centenary (0-27, 0-15) on Saturday night at the Swinney Recreation Center. The 'Roos dominated the game from the three-point line, knocking down 50.0 percent of their shots (15-30), while limiting Centenary to 18.2 percent (2-11) from beyond the arc.
Senior Jay Couisnard led the 'Roos with a team-high 21 points, while freshman Trinity Hall finished with a new career-high of 21. Senior Bakari Lewis, meanwhile, added 15 points and eight assists, while junior Reggie Chamberlain registered 15 points and senior Spencer Johnson finished with nine points and 15 rebounds.
The 'Roos got off to a hot start, taking a 17-3 lead on a Couisnard three, 3:03 into the game.
UMKC then build its lead to a half-high 22 on a Johnson three-pointer with 5:05 left in the first, before settling for a 20 point lead at 54-34 heading into halftime.
In the second half, the 'Roos would increase their lead to as many as 30 at 79-49, getting a pair of three-pointers from Chamberlain during the stretch.
The Gents closed the margin to 26 with 3:10 to play, but a 12-5 run by the 'Roos, including junior Trevor Mason's first four collegiate points, gave UMKC the 91-58 victory.
In the game, the 'Roos out-shot the Gents from the field, 57.1 percent to 40.7 percent, while out-rebounding them 38-26. UMKC also out-paced Centenary, scoring 20 points on fast breaks, while holding Centenary to just six.
The Blue & Gold will be back in action again on Thursday when they head to Western Illinois for a 7:00 p.m. tip.
