On the last possession, Chamberlain penetrated the lane, drawing several IUPUI defenders, and kicked out to a wide open Johnson, who drilled the three, sending the game into overtime.
In the first overtime, UMKC would strike first with a Couisnard jumper, before extending the lead to three at 64-61 on a Dustin Dibble three-point basket.
The Jaguars then went on another 6-0 run to take a 67-64 lead, but Johnson would again tie the game with a three, sending the game to a second overtime.
In the second overtime, the 'Roos jumped out to a four point lead at 71-67 after back-to-back baskets from Couisnard and Johnson.
An IUPUI three would cut the lead to one, but another slam from Couisnard would push the lead back to three with 2:29 to go.
Moments later, the Jaguars would again pull to within one, but a Dibble rebound and putback, followed by four straight Chamberlain free throws pushed the UMKC lead to 79-72 with 32 seconds remaining.
IUPUI would pull to with five with two free throws of its own, but four more free throws from Chamberlain would give the 'Roos their largest lead of the night at 83-74.
Three free throws from IUPUI and a layup at the buzzer by Dibble would be the game's final points, giving UMKC the 85-77 win.
In the game, the 'Roos out-shot the Jags 46 percent to 39.3 percent from the field, including 34.5 percent to 29.2 percent from three-point range, while committing a season-low tying 10 turnovers in 50 minutes of play. Defensively, UMKC forced 15 IUPUI turnovers, including eight steals.
