Terre Haute, Ind. -- The UMKC women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision at Indiana State on Friday night. The Kangaroos fall to 0-5 on the season, while the Sycamores improve to 4-2. Taylor Bare led the `Roos with one goal and two shots.
The `Roos went down early in the first half, after giving up a penalty kick to Alison Gasparovich in the 12th minute. Despite being out-shot 11-3 in the first half, the Kangaroos were able to escape the first half down, 1-0.
The second half belonged to the Sycamores, again out-shooting UMKC 15-1. The Kangaroos were able to hold Indiana State scoreless in the second half until the 73rd minute when Ashley Collins took a ball from Kylie Greichar and slipped it past `Roos goalkeeper Jami Finnell.
UMKC got a little momentum in the 84th minute, after Bare buried a penalty kick past Sycamore goalkeeper Emily Lahay. It would be a little to late as the `Roos would ultimately just run out of time.
Finnell recorded five saves during the match.
The Kangaroos will face Eastern Illinois on Sunday.
