
Kangaroos Close Out Weekend at Eastern Illinois

Kansas City, Mo. -- The UMKC women's soccer team will close out the weekend at Eastern Illinois on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Kangaroos are 0-5 on the season entering the match with the Panthers. The `Roos are coming off of a 2-1 loss at Indiana State.
The Kangaroos went 1-17-1 in their inaugural
season last year. UMKC landed its only victory last season against
Southern Utah, 2-0, on Oct. 16.
Head coach Anita Rodriguez is
back for her second season and brings with her 11 letterwinners from
last season, all of who saw lots of action. The Kangaroos also welcome
eight newcomers to the 2010 squad, seven freshman and one transfer.
Scouting the Opponent
Eastern Illinois is 3-3-1 overall this season headed into the match with UMKC. The Panthers are coming off of a 1-0 win over Belmont. In 2009, Eastern Illinois finished the season with a 7-8-5 overall record and went 3-3-2 in the Ohio Valley Conference. This is the first meeting between the Kangaroos and the Panthers.
Bare Leads Kangaroos In Goals
Freshman Taylor Bare scored the second goal of her career last night in the 2-1 loss to Indiana State. Bare leads the squad with two goals on the season. The freshman scored her first collegiate goal on Aug. 21 in the season opener to Valparaiso. Ashley Gann leads the `Roos with 10 shots on the season.
`Roos Snap Scoreless Streak
Meagan
Malloy snapped UMKC's two game scoreless streak on Sept. 5, with her
first career goal against Youngstown State. Malloy scored in the 65th
minute following a pass from Zaina Mayer.
Also scoring for the Kangaroos this season are freshmen Ashley Gann and Taylor Bare. Gann also has one assist tallied in 2010.
Late Goal By Bare Can't Put `Roos Past Sycamores
The UMKC women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision at Indiana State on Sept. 10. Taylor Bare led the `Roos with one goal and two shots. Bare notched her goal in the 84th minute, to cut the Sycamores lead to one. Jami Finnell recorded five saves in the match.

the official home of the Kangaroos and provides student-athletes,
students and community groups with one of the top soccer facilities in
The Summit League and the Midwest. The $9 million dollar addition adds
to the growing residential feel of the UMKC campus.
DSSRF
provides seating for 850 fans and a separate addition hosts locker
rooms for men's and women's soccer, softball and track & field, as
well as offices for the respective coaching staffs and concession
areas.
UMKC officially dedicated Durwood Soccer Stadium &
Recreational Field on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009 prior to the men's soccer
game against Western Illinois.
