'Roos Make It Five Straight; Top Bethune-Cookman, 5-2

Orlando, Fla. -- The UMKC men's tennis team won its fifth straight match, topping Bethune-Cookman, 5-2, on Wednesday afternoon in Orlando. The 'Roos won the doubles point and claimed singles wins at the two, three, five and six positions to notch their 11th match win of the season.
The Wildcats claimed the first victory of the day as their No. 3 doubles tandem of Yannick Jackson and Cristian Cruz downed David Hecker and Erwin Quintanilla by the count of 8-3. The 'Roos, however, evened the tally at one when Patrick Smith and Bret Berryman topped Marc Vanja Misanovic and Emil Vassilev, 8-5. The win was the duo's 12th doubles victory at the No. 1 position this season, which is a new school record.
The 'Roos then claimed the doubles point when Serge Ristivojevic and Gustavo Guerin followed with their 12th win. The duo edged Jeffery Smallwood and Greg Streat, 9-8 (5).
In singles, UMKC got straight set wins at the two, three and five lines and a three set win at the six. Smith tallied his 11th victory at the two line, downing Vassilev, 6-0, 6-1, Ristivojevic defeated Streat, 6-2, 7-5 for his 10th victory and Abdul Alawadhi clinched the match win with his 6-2, 6-2 victory over Kristofer Martin at the five.
The 'Roos' final win came at the six position, where Heckler rallied from a set down to defeat Cruz, 5-7, 6-4, 10-7.
UMKC (11-6) will close out its spring break trip tomorrow when it faces Niagara.
