Fellow senior Spencer Johnson added 13 points to the 'Roo effort, while junior Reggie Chamberlain chipped in 11.
In the game, the 'Roos got on the board first when Bakari Lewis found Couisnard on a back door cut. Couisnard could not get the layup to go, but was fouled and buried both free throws.
After a Wildcat three and free throw and a pair of Spencer Johnson free throws, Kansas State would go on 13-1 run to take a 17-5 lead with 12:32 to play.
Spencer Johnson would end the KSU run with a three from the left corner, while Couisnard would knock down three free throws on the next UMKC possession to cut the lead to eight.
A 6-2 KSU run would push the lead to 25-13, but the 'Roos would answer with five straight to slice the lead to seven.
The Wildcats would then score the game's next eight points to extend their lead to 33-18.
Another Johnson three would end the K-State run and help the 'Roos to seven of the next 12 points, cutting the lead to 38-25 with 2:23 left in the first.
Kansas State would then go on a 6-1 run before a Reggie Chamberlain three at the end of the half cut the advantage to 44-29 at the break.
Couisnard would go into the half with team-highs of 12 points, including 9-of-9 shooting from the line, five rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal.
Coming out of the break, Chamberlain would hit his second straight three, trimming the lead to 12.
K-State then answered with a three of its own before a pair of Johnson free throws cut the lead to 47-34.
A 9-0 KSU run would push its lead to 56-34, before a Chamberlain floater stopped the run and jumped started a 15-8 UMKC run that was highlighted by a Lewis steal and dunk.
After a K-State basket, the 'Roos would get to within 10 on a three-pointer from Lewis, a layup from Hall and a three-pointer from Johnson with 5:40 left to play.
Six straight Wildcat points would push the lead back to 16, but four of the next six points by UMKC would shrink the lead to 14.
Kansas State would then close the game out with five of the final eight points to hold on for the 80-64 win.
The Blue and Gold will now be off until after the 28th when they resume Summit League play against North Dakota State at the Swinney Recreation Center for a 7:05 p.m. tip-off.
