
Idaho State Hands 'Roos 78-57 Loss

Pocatello, Idaho -- The UMKC men's basketball team (5-4, 0-2) dropped its non-league game, 78-57, to Idaho State (3-5) on Saturday night at Holt Arena. The Bengal's zone defense stifled the 'Roo offense for most of the night, holding UMKC to 40.9 percent shooting from the field.
Senior Jay Couisnard led the way for the 'Roos, finishing with a team-high 22 points and six rebounds, five offensive. Freshman Trinity Hall chipped in 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds, while junior Bernard Kamwa notched seven points and collected seven caroms.
In the first half, the 'Roos jumped out to an early lead in the contest, holding a 13-9 lead with 11:00 remaining behind seven Couisnard points
The final 11 minutes was a different story for the 'Roos though, as Idaho State closed out the half on a 25-4 run to take a 34-17 lead into the break.
Coming out of halftime, the 'Roos picked up the intensity, scoring six of the first 10 points of the half.
The Bengals though, would withstand the UMKC burst and increase their lead to as many as 27.
UMKC would not go away easily, as the 'Roos closed out the game by out-scoring the Bengals 28-22 over the final 9:36.
In the game, UMKC out-rebounded ISU 31-28 and out-shot them from three-point range 29.4 percent to 14.3, but was out-shot 54.5 percent to 40.9 percent from the field and 76.3 percent to 50.0 percent from the line.
The 'Roos will be back in action again next Saturday at 12:05 p.m. when they put their perfect 4-0 home record on the line against North Dakota at the Swinney Recreation Center.
