THE COACHES
UMKC head coach Matt Brown is in his fourth season with the UMKC men's basketball program, where he has compiled an 29-63 overall record and has coached four players to all-Summit League recognition. Former forward Dane Brumagin was a second team all-league honoree and Reggie Hamilton was an all-newcomer team selection in 2007-08, before Brumagin and Jay Couisnard were honorable mention all-league honorees in 2008-09 and 2009-10, respectively. Couisnard was also chosen to The Summit League all-Newcomer team.
Gregg Marshall, whose teams have gone to the NCAA tournament seven of the last 12 seasons, was named the 25th head men's basketball coach at Wichita State on April 14, 2007. With three seasons behind him at WSU, the enthusiastic and energetic coach has the Shockers on the brink of making noise on the national scene after taking WSU back to the postseason for the first time since 2006.
The veteran coach, who brought WSU from 11 wins his first season to 25 wins in 2010, returns all but one starter off a team that played in the postseason NIT, received votes in the AP poll and advanced to the MVC Tournament title game
