Kansas City, Mo. -- The UMKC women's soccer team hosted Indiana State on Sunday for its last non-conference game of the season. The Kangaroos dropped the match 1-0 to the Sycamores to fall to 0-9-1 on the year. Despite suffering the loss, Jami Finnell recorded 12 saves for UMKC.
One goal is all it would take for Indiana State to secure the win and it happened in the first 15 mintues of the match. Casey Allbright got the ball in the corner and crossed it just high enough to slip through Finnell's hands. Erin Bianchi was waiting on the far side of the goal and slipped the ball past the UMKC defense.
Despite being out shot 20-5, the Kangaroos would have several scoring opportunities with Meagan Shipley and Meagan Malloy placing shots on frame.
The UMKC women's soccer team begins Summit League play at Oakland on Oct. 2 at 6 p.m.
