
UMKC Falls In Doubleheader To Arkansas

Fayetteville, Ark. -- UMKC dropped a pair of games to Arkansas on Wednesday night, 7-1 and 16-1. Chelsea Hartwig posted her eighth home run of the season to score a run, and Betsy Hanley also homered against the Razorbacks. The Kangaroos are now 19-32 on the season and will host Southern Utah this weekend at Loyola Park.
Arkansas 7 - UMKC 1
Arkansas went up 5-0 in the bottom of the third and scored its final two runs in the fifth. Hartwig's solo home run came in the top of the sixth. The Kangaroos were able to post six hits but not able to convert any others in to runs.
Arkansas 16 - UMKC 1
Hanley scored first in game two of the doubleheader with her solo home run in the top of the first. From there, the Razorbacks took over, scoring five runs in the first and six runs in the second.
Arkansas led 13-1 at the conclusion of the third and tacked on three runs in the fourth to run-rule the `Roos.
Nicholle Ellis and Anna Sokolik both saw time on the mound for UMKC.
The Kangaroos close out the regular season with the Thunderbirds in a three-game series. The pair will play a doubleheader on Saturday, May 2, beginning at 2:00 p.m. UMKC will close out the series on Sunday and honor its three seniors Amanda Evans, Nicholle Ellis and Samantha Hurst at noon.
