
'Roos Fall To Hot USC-Upstate Squad In N.C.

Wilmington, N.C. -- The UMKC men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 neutral site decision to No. 72 USC-Upstate on Wednesday morning at the UNCW Tennis Complex in Wilmington, N.C. The Kangaroos dropped the hard fought doubles point to open the match before the Spartans took all six singles matches in straight sets to run its winning streak to 12 straight matches.
USC-Upstate opened the match by claiming all three doubles matches to secure the first point, however the 'Roos pushed the Spartans to the limit at the one and three lines. Bret Berryman and Patrick Smith dropped an 8-6 decision to Javier Tori and Renzo Airaldi at the one, while Dennis Schwarz and Erwin Quintanilla also fell by the 8-6 scoreline in their match against Ramiro Blanco and Edgar Rodriguez at the three position.
In singles, Smith and Guerin played two of the most competitive matches on the day for UMKC. Smith dropped a 6-4, 6-4 decision to Airaldi at the No. 2 position, while Guerin fell 6-3, 6-4 to Tori at the three line.
The Kangaroos (6-3) will round out their trip to North Carolina tomorrow with another neutral site match against Troy State.
