
Kangaroos Race Past Centenary, 4-0

Macomb, Ill. -- The UMKC men's tennis team defeated Centenary, 4-0, on Friday afternoon at the Western Illinois Varsity Courts in Macomb. The Kangaroos posted victories at the top four singles positions in straight sets to claim their fifth win of the season.
Sophomore Erwin Quintanilla opened the day with a straight set, 6-0, 6-0, win at the No. 4 position over Gerry Lozano. Fellow sophomore Patrick Smith then followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Alejandro Ahuja at the two line to put UMKC up 2-0.
At the three, sophomore Dennis Schwarz posted his ninth straight singles win with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Oscar Medellin. Schwarz now has a team-best 9-3 record at the No. 3 and No. 4 positions this season and a perfect 4-0 mark in league play.
At the top singles position, freshman Serge Ristivojevic clinched the match for the Kangaroos with his straight set victory over Mark Rodgman at the one. The Australia native won by the scores of 6-4, 6-3.
UMKC (5-8, 3-2) will close out the regular season against IPFW on Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
