
Men's Tennis Drops Road Match At Creighton

Omaha, Neb. -- The UMKC men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision at Creighton on Saturday afternoon at the Hanscom Tennis Courts in Omaha. In the defeat, the Kangaroos picked up their first singles win of the season, and the squad took two other matches to a decisive third set on the afternoon.
UMKC opened the day by playing three competitive matches in doubles, but the Bluejays took the point. Bryan Lube and Ross Allen opened the day with an 8-3 win at the No. 3 position over Nick Mader and Nick Patonai before Nikita Dudar and Joe Eckert secured CU's first point with an 8-5 win over Serge Ristivojevic and Patrick Smith at the one line. The tightest match came at the two position where Jose Guerra and Brian Ward picked up the tough win over the Kangaroos' Dennis Schwarz and Erwin Quintanilla, 8-6.
In the singles action, sophomore Dennis Schwarz picked up his first and UMKC's first singles win of the season with his 6-1, 6-3 victory over Ward at the No. 4 position. Ristivojevic and Patonai, meanwhile, both took their matches to the third set. Ristivojevic, who was playing at No. 1 for the first time this season, dropped a 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 decision to Guerra, while Patonai forced a third set against Lube before falling, 6-2, 6-7, 10-4.
UMKC (0-4) will return to action on March 20 when it plays a neutral site match against Rhode Island in Colorado Springs, Colo.
