three-game road trip at IUPUI on Saturday night at the IUPUI Gymnasium in

The Jaguars enter Saturday's game on a three-game winning
streak to push its overall record to 16-5 overall and 8-2 in The Summit
League. On Thursday night, IUPUI got 37
points from Gary Patterson on 13-of-17 shooting, which included an 11-for-15
night from three-point land, en route to an easy 88-66 victory over
Four Jags are averaging in double figures on the season and a total of five players are averaging nine or more points. Guard George Hill is pacing the squad with 20.5 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game. Austin Montgomery is averaging 12.9 points, Patterson is adding 12.7 per contest, and reserve forward Jon Avery is adding 12.0 points per game.
IUPUI's scoring margin is 13.1 points, as it is averaging 75.8 points, while giving up 62.7 per game. The Jags are shooting .501 from the floor, .429 from long range and an NCAA best .789 from the charity stripe. The squad is also +3.3 on the glass (31.7-28.4).
- The Jaguars connected on 10 first half three pointers en
route to a school record 19 treys against the Thunderbirds. Gary Patterson's 11 three-pointers are the
most by any Division I player this season, and they are a new IUPUI Division I
record.
- IUPUI jumped out to a 32-6 advantage over the first 10
minutes of the game on Thursday night.
The lead grew as large as 31 in the first half at 43-12.
- The Jags are leading The Summit League in scoring margin
(+13.1), free throw percentage (.789), field goal percentage (.501),
three-point field goal percentage (.429) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.16).
Saturday's game will be the 21st meeting in the all-time
series between UMKC and IUPUI with the Jaguars holding the 11-9 advantage. IUPUI is 5-4 in games played in
The Kangaroos dropped a 77-72 decision to IUPUI on Jan. 3 at
Municipal Auditorium. UMKC led 72-69
with 1:22 remaining in the contest, but the Jaguars scored the final eight
points to run out five-point winners.
George Hill led all scorers in the game with 34 points on 12-of-20
shooting. Brent Stephens was the
Kangaroos' high scorer with 16 points on 5-of-9 shooting.

- With the score 17-15 in UMKC's favor, WIU scored 15
straight points to stretch the margin to 13 points. The Kangaroos got to within nine minutes
later, but the Leathernecks then stretched the advantage to double figures.
- UMKC shot 61.1 percent (11-18) from the floor in the
second half.
- Two Kangaroo players finished the game in double
figures. Tim Blackwell led all scorers
in the contest with 17 points.
- UMKC matched a season-low with just 12 three-point field
goal attempts against the Leathernecks.
The Kangaroos will look to pick up their second road victory
of the season on Saturday at IUPUI.

The Kangaroos rank 17th in the nation in three-point field
goals per game (9.1) and 49th in three-point field goal percentage (.386). UMKC also ranks 38th in the country in free
throw percentage with a .737 mark on the year.
Individually, junior Dane Brumagin ranks 27th in the country in both free throw percentage (.868) and three-point field goal percentage (.446).

The Kangaroos have been battling the injury bug over the
past several weeks. Junior Akeem
Hemingway (foot) didn't make this weekend's trip, as he is back in
The Kangaroos had four players score in double figures for
the first time since Dec. 22 against Loyola Chicago last Saturday against
Centenary. It was the sixth time this
season that four or more players finished in double digits. In such contests, UMKC has posted a 4-2
record.
On the year, UMKC has three players that are averaging 10 points or more per game. Dane Brumagin (18.1), Tim Blackwell (11.0) and Reggie Hamilton (10.1) are all averaging in double figures.
UMKC shot better than 50 percent from the field for just the
third time this season against Centenary last Saturday. The Kangaroos connected on .510 (25-49) of
its field goal attempts in the contest.
The last time the squad had accomplished the feat was at UTSA on Nov.
29.
The Kangaroos have used 11 different starting line-ups this
season. Every player on the roster
except Alex Pledger, who is sidelined with an injury, has started at least one
game for the team on the year.
The Kangaroos finished with 10 three pointers against
Centenary last Saturday to give them nine games with 10 or more makes this
season. The squad connected on a
season-high 16 long balls at Oakland on Dec. 6.
UMKC is averaging 23.2 three point attempts per game this season. The team is connecting on 9.0 of those chances, while shooting .388 from behind the three-point arch.
The team's 207 three point makes and 533 three point attempts are both tops in The Summit League. The Kangaroos are currently on pace to break the school records in three-point makes (267) and attempts (734) this season.
Junior Kenny Simms has seen his court time increase and as a
result, and the center has been producing more for the Kangaroos. The New Jersey native has been averaging 9.3
points on .556 (15-27) shooting in 21.0 minutes of playing time over the past
four contests. He has also been
averaging 6.0 rebounds per game for the squad.
The Kangaroos are known for being a good three-point
shooting team this season. In fact, in
12 games, UMKC has finished with a higher three-point field goal percentage
than overall field goal percentage.
Junior Dane Brumagin scored in double figures for the second
straight game, as he finished with 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting on Thursday at
Western Illinois. The performance came
on the heels of a 29-point output against Centenary last Saturday.
Brumagin, who has been UMKC's high scorer in 13 games, has 10 20-point games this season, and he's been in double figures in 19-of-23 contests on the year. For his career, the forward has 33 games in double figures and 14 games with 20 or more points, which is tied for seventh all-time.
The Montgomery City, Mo., native is leading the team with a 18.1 scoring average, which is fifth in the league. In conference games only, the forward is second in The Summit League with 21.0 points per contest.
Brumagin's most prolific games of the season, and his career, came during a two-game stretch in early December when he scored 75 points in two games. The forward netted 40 points at Oakland on Dec. 6 on 12-of-17 shooting, and he followed it up with 35 points on 14-of-20 shooting at IPFW on Dec. 8. As a result, he was named the Mid-Majority Baller of the Week on Dec. 10.
Junior Dane Brumagin has not only been UMKC's most
consistent scorer this season, but the forward has also been one of the team's
top rebounders. The Montgomery City,
Mo., native has led the team in a team-best 11 contests on the season and his
5.3 rebounds per game are also tops on the team. Brumagin has finished with eight or more
rebounds in six games this season, and he grabbed a career-best 10 rebounds
against Southern Utah on Jan. 12.
Senior Tim Blackwell finished with a team-best 17 points on
5-of-10 shooting on Thursday night at Western Illinois. The guard connected on 2-of-3 three-point
attempts, and he made all five of his attempts from the free throw line.
On the year, the Cameron, Mo., native has scored in double figures in 11 games and in 41 games in his career. Blackwell also has three 20-point games this season and seven in his Kangaroo career.
Senior Tim Blackwell has his sights set on becoming just the
eighth player in school history to hit the 1,000-point plateau. The Cameron, Mo., native currently has 940
career points in Blue and Gold, which ranks eighth in the school recordbooks.
