Joanie Huebner, PhD, received her doctorate in clinical health psychology from UMKC in 2022 and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in integrated health psychology with the UMKC Department of Community and Family Medicine at University Health Lakewood Medical Center, where she now works as a licensed clinical health psychologist. She received her B.A. in Psychology at the University of Kansas and her M.A. in Psychology at UMKC.
Dr. Huebner is a published author on a book chapter and over 20 peer-reviewed journal articles. Her research engagement reflects her interest in neuropsychology, with particular regard to neurological populations such as multiple sclerosis (MS) and sport-related concussion. She has presented research at national and international conferences. Her doctoral dissertation explored the impact of polypharmacy and anticholinergic medication burden on cognition and fatigue in patients with MS. She also contributed to program evaluation research for the NHL/NHLPA concussion evaluation and management protocol.
As a therapist, Dr. Huebner has worked with a wide variety of client concerns and has developed particular interest in adjustment issues, depression, grief, stress management, mind-body relaxation techniques, and health behavior change. In her free time, Dr. Huebner enjoys traveling, live music, and spending time with her husband and two cats.
