Samantha Williams enters her first year as an assistant coach heading into the 2024 season. Williams was a two-time All-American as a player at Pittsburg State, and was most recently the Interim Head Coach at William Jewell for the 2023 season.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity to work with Kansas City Volleyball," Williams said. "Coach Posey has been a staple in the volleyball community for decades, and I'm very excited to get to work and learn from her. I was drawn to this opportunity because this is where I grew up, and KC is a special place. KC Volleyball is an established program with successful people at the helm. To be able to add to that pedigree is a blessing. I'm looking forward to getting in the gym with the team and making things happen."
In her current role, Williams works with Kansas City's middle blockers, as well as assisting in operational planning and scouting efforts.
Williams comes to Kansas City from William Jewell, where she was an assistant coach for two seasons and was named the interim head coach heading into the 2023 year. She led the Cardinals to 12 wins throughout the year, including a pair of nationally-ranked wins over #25 Harding and #23 Rockhurst. Outside hitter Bella LaPorta was named First Team All-GLVC and D2CCA Second Team All-Region as the team's leading attacker, and the team saw two players named CSC Academic All-District for their performances on-and-off the court.
In 2022, William Jewell posted a 13-15 record, the program's most wins since the 2012 season and a five-win improvement from 2021. The Cardinals posted eight wins in Williams' first season on the sidelines, earning Academic All-GLVC distinction.
Prior to her time with William Jewell, Williams was the head coach at Park Hill South, leading the Panthers to five conference championships across six seasons and coaching eight players to All-State honors.
Williams also brings professional experience to the Roos' sidelines, playing three seasons with Lindsberg Volleyball in the Swedish Volleyball Professional League.
She was inducted into the Pittsburg State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2022, in honor of her prolific playing career. During her time with the Gorillas, She was a two-time All-American, a four-time All-MIAA performer and was the 2005 MIAA Freshman of the Year. She finished her career as the program's all-time kills leader with 1,825 and was just the fourth player in program history to record over 1,000 kills and digs.Â
A native of Kansas City, Williams graduated from Fort Osage in 2005. She currently lives in Kansas City with her son Aedyn and daughter Charleigh.
