Former UMKC men’s soccer student-athlete Miguel Rodrigues is entering his first season the Interim Assistant Coach with the Kangaroo women’s soccer program.
He served the previous year as the Director of Soccer Operations for the men's program.
Rodrigues returns to the sidelines in the coaching capacity after playing for Coach Benben from 2006-08, where he competed in 59 matches with 57 starts. The midfielder netted four career goals and added seven assists for 15 points during his time in Blue and Gold.
During his senior campaign in 2008, Rodrigues helped the ‘Roos claim The Summit League Tournament title and earn an NCAA Tournament berth. He finished that season with five assists and a single goal, which was the game-winner against Central Arkansas.
Prior to transferring to UMKC, Rodrigues played his freshman season at Stetson University in 2005. He saw action in five contests for the Hatters.
In the classroom, Rodrigues was an exceptional student, as he was a four-time academic all-league honoree. He earned Atlantic Sun Academic all-Conference honors in 2005 before being named to The Summit League Academic all-League squads from 2006-08. Additionally, Rodrigues was also a two-time Commissioner’s List of Academic Excellence honoree.
During his junior season, Rodrigues earned ESPN/CoSIDA First Team Academic all-District honors, while also being selected to the NSCAA Scholar Athlete all-Region team.
Rodrigues, a native of Miami, Fla., graduated from UMKC in 2008 with a degree in liberal arts.
