LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Kansas City Roo Women's Soccer team heads west to Lawrence to take on the Kansas Jayhawks on Thursday evening; kickoff is scheduled for 7 PM.Â
Kansas City(0-3-1) is coming off a tightly fought 1-0 loss to the Creighton Bluejays last Thursday in Omaha. The Roos have three losses, with two of which were on the road, with the other being at Iowa State.
Head Coach Jess Smith returns to her alma mater, where she played from 2002-05, in her time in Lawrence helped the Jayhawks to a 2004 Big 12 title and a Sweet 16 appearance in 2003. In her time at Kansas City, Smith is 0-1-1 against her alma mater.Â
Kansas City's lone goal was scored by Maryam El-Demerdash from the penalty spot against UC Riverside. The Roos average 10.7 shots per game, which ranks fourth in the Summit League. Kansas City averages four corners per match. KC has committed 41 fouls on the season that have resulted in five yellow cards, and one red card that was a result of receiving two yellow cards.
