Roos Earn First Win of Season, 2-0 Shut Out of Missouri State

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City Women's Soccer team gets its first win of the season with a 2-0 win over rivals Missouri State at Durwood Stadium.Â
Kansas City had two shots in the opening 15 minutes, but then in the 20th minute, Kansas City found the back of the net after Ashley Koch and Olivia Platt linked up. Platt found Koch with a through ball, who knocked it past the Missouri State keeper to put the Roos 1-0. At the end of the opening 45, Kansas City found themselves up at the break.
In the second half, KC would record a shot in the opening five minutes of the half from Genevieve Hull. Goalkeeper Anika Patton would make a huge save in the 76th minute to keep the Roos out in front, to go along with her five saves on the night. In the 84th minute, Kansas City's Olivia Platt would win a penalty after being brought down in the box by a Bears defender. Platt would find the bottom corner to put the Roos up two goals to none with only six minutes remaining. Kansas City would see out the match to get the 2-0 result and the first win of the 2026 season over in-state rivals Missouri State.Â
