
Kansas City Falls 3-1 to UC Riverside

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City Women's Team dropped Sunday afternoon's match to UC Riverside.
Kansas City had six shots in the opening 30 minutes, then in the 35th minute, after a VAR review upheld a penalty, Maryam El-Demerdash would put the penalty away to put the Roos up 1-0. Nine minutes later, Riverside would find an equalizer right before the halftime break in the 44th minute, after a free kick taken bounced around in the box.
The second half would start strong with a shot from Kaitlyn Edwards in the 2nd minute of the half. Olivia Platt would put a cross just wide in the 65th minute. Two minutes later, Mia Ozanne was issued her second yellow card of the match and was sent off. UCR was awarded a penalty in the 76th minute of the match which was converted by Albertine Faye, and they would extend their lead a minute later to put the Highlanders up 3-1.

- KC was outshot 12-10.
- Maryam El-Demerdash scored the Roos' first goal of the season.
- The Roos had five corners in the match.
Kansas City heads to Omaha, Neb., to take on Creighton this coming Thursday, August 27th, with kickoff at 4:30 PM.
