Roos Drop Season Opener at Iowa State

AMES, Iowa - Kansas City drops the season opener 4-0 to Iowa State.
"Disappointed with the way we competed tonight and our overall quality," said Head Coach Jess Smith. "We struggled to keep possession, and we just didn't get physically connected when we didn't have the ball. Iowa State capitalized on key mistakes we made, and we have to learn from those moments."
Kansas City opened the game strong in the opening 10 minutes with two shots; Iowa State would open the scoring in the 26th minute with a goal from Mia Sowders with an assist from Morgan Goodman, one of her three on the night. The Cyclones would add another right before the halftime whistle in the 42nd minute.Â
Iowa State would score in the 48th minute from a corner, and would find their fourth of the night 13 minutes later in the 61st minute. The Roos would finish out the rest of the game strong, taking five shots in the last 26 minutes.

Kansas City has its season opener Friday, August 21st when they host Rockhurst at 7 PM at Durwood Stadium.
