Clunis Takes Summit League Men's Track Peak Performer of the Week

The Kingston, Jamaica native set a program record in the 100M at the Rock Chalk Classic
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Kansas City's Stephen Clunis has taken the Summit League Men's Track Peak Performer of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon. Clunis, the Summit's defending 60-meter champion from indoor season, took the 100-meter dash by storm, darting a program-record time of 10.28 seconds in Lawrence this past weekend.Â
Clunis' time ranks as the second fastest time in the Summit, behind his teammate Tory Lanahm who ran a 10.25 second time earlier this season. Clunis has the school record because his 10.28 time came in with a 1.4 mile per hour wind while Lanham's was at 3.6 mph, above the 2.0 threshold required to enter the Roos record books.Â
For Clunis, it's his fourth time running the 100-meter dash during this outdoor season and his first time receiving a conference weekly award for outdoors. The junior sprinter has three for indoor season across his two full years with the Roos and will aim for medal placement in his first fully healthy outdoor campaign in the Summit League.Â
