SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Kansas City Men's Golf was represented strong in the annual postseason awards with four Roos earning various all-conference distinctions as announced by the Summit League this morning. Mason Haley led the way, taking the second All-League First Team selection of his career in just as many seasons. Likewise, Harry Bent delivered a strong season and was named a All-League Honorable Mention. Finally, the freshmen duo of Saxxon Ford and Jack Spencer were put on the Summit's All-Freshman Team after their first season with the Roos.Â
Haley, the reigning Summit League Newcomer of the Year, delivered a stupendous sophomore campaign, becoming the first Roo to earn first team all-conference honors in back-to-back season since McCain Shellhardt did it in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons. Haley posted a 72.0 scoring average in the regular season, the second best mark in the conference and the sixth lowest single season scoring average in program history. Haley had two top three finishes this year, one of which was an outright victory when he led the Roos to first place at the Grier Jones Shocker Invitational, finishing at -13 under par.Â
In his first year as a Roo, Bent showcased brilliance on the course on multiple occasions, finishing with a season scoring average of 72.6, the eighth lowest mark in the Summit League. Additionally, Bent's 72.6 average is the 11th lowest single season scoring average in school history. The Kansas State transfer was at par or under three times this season, finishing at -4 on 65 total strokes, tied for the third fewest by a student-athlete in the Summit League this season, at the Grier Jones Shocker Invitational back in October.Â
A native Brisbane, Australia, Ford posted one of the best freshman season of any player in the conference, totaling a 74.3 scoring average. Ford reached +4 or better on three occasions this season, finishing in the top 20 at the Nassau Invitational and Hawkeye Invitational. In Brooklyn, N.Y., Ford finished fifth out of 66 competitors while boasting a score of +5 across the three rounds.Â
Spencer showcased a scoring average of 74.2 this season, the second lowest of any performer on the Summit All-Freshman Team. The Carl Junction, Mo. native finished inside the top 40 six times and placed top 15 twice. Spencer's best outing of his first collegiate campaign came at the Jackrabbit Invitational where he totaled a score of -4 and finished fifth in the competition. Spencer also managed a +1 over par score at the Robert Kepler Invitational.Â
