
Bennett Twins Garner Summit All-League Status

Elauni Bennett was tabbed to the Second Team All-League while Emani Bennett was named an All-League Honorable Mention
El. Bennett was a workhorse this year for the Roos, averaging 10.0 points per game, 7.9 rebounds per game, 4.2 offensive rebounds per game and shooting 54.1% from the field in conference play this season. The junior guard racked up five double-doubles in Summit action and eight overall, tripling her career total from the beginning of the season. El. Bennett led the Summit in offensive rebounding average at 4.2 per game, which ranked eighth in the country, and total with 67 offensive boards grabbed in 16 conference games. The Lee's Summit, Mo. native also ranked fifth in the conference in overall rebounding average and total.
On the scoring end, El. Bennett ranked 19th in the conference in average while holding the third highest field goal shooting percentage in the Summit. El. Bennett ended the year strong, scoring a conference season-high of 22 points and 16 rebounds on 10-16 shooting from the field against St. Thomas in the regular season finale. The third-year Roo had a pair of double-doubles against the Tommies this season, pouring in 20 points and 10 rebounds in a 75-60 win over UST back in mid-January. Other highlights for KC's Second Team All-League performer included a 20-point, 12-rebound double-double versus Oral Roberts and an 18-point, 10-rebound outing to open Summit play against Omaha.
Em. Bennett was Kansas City's go-to scorer this season, averaging 12.4 points per game, 3.7 rebounds per game and 1.4 assists per game in conference action. Em. Bennett ranked 13th in the Summit League in scoring average and total. The junior guard totaled a tie for the seventh most made field goals in the conference, making 80 shots in 16 Summit games. Em. Bennett was also ninth this season in playing time with 487 minutes while holding 13th in the Summit in average with 30.4 minutes per game. The Lee's Summit, Mo. native was tied for the second most field goal attempts in conference play, taking 217 in conference action this year.
Em. Bennett notched a conference season-high of 21 points and five rebounds on 8-17 shooting from the field against South Dakota State back in late January. The third-year Roo also scored 20 points against Denver, making it the seventh time she's hit the 20-plus scoring mark overall this season. Em. Bennett reached double figures in scoring in 11 of Kansas City's 16 conference games this season and hit 15-plus points five times. Em. Bennett posted a team-high 17 points against Omaha on Jan. 31, scoring the game-winning basket to propel the Roos to a thrilling 60-59 road win.
Kansas City begins postseason play on Thursday, taking on South Dakota State in Sioux Falls, S.D. at noon.
