Kansas City's rally in game one fell short before a run-rule decision in game two
Kansas City Softball dropped both games of a double header at Urban Youth Academy against Creighton. With those results, the Roos fall to 8-14 on the season.
In the first game, the Roos fell down 6-0 before mounting a comeback that fell short in a 6-2 defeat. The Roos were out hit 10 to five and committed two errors, while the Jays posted a clean zero. For the Roos, Leilani Bustamante and Megan Johnston each drove in a run. As a team, they drew six walks and put pressure on the Blue Jays to maintain their lead, highlighted by Maya Anthony drawing two herself. Delilah Roberts pitched all seven innings for the Roos and gave up just two earned runs, despite the team allowing six.Â
In the second game, the Roos dropped a 9-0 run-rule decision in five innings. Errors continued to appear, as the Roos committed two, which led to five of the nine runs allowed being unearned. Brooke Seppi contributed two innings, allowing just two hits and one earned run. Alyssa Droge came in for relief and added three solid innings with five hits and three earned runs. On the offensive side, Ella Husak and Grace Batdorf each tallied a hit, while Megan Johnston and Makenna Ramos each drew a walk.
The Roos return to action for a 4 p.m. match up March 18 against Western Illinois at Urban Youth Academy.
