- Love is in the air as Kansas City Men's Basketball returns home for a Valentine's Day game against St. Thomas to close out the Roos' season series against the the Tommies. This will be the 12th time in program history that the Roos play on Valentine's Day: KC is 3-8 all-time on Feb. 14, but has won its last two match ups, against Grand Canyon in 2019 and Chicago State in 2015.
- The Roos are coming off of a loss at the hands of Oral Roberts which saw Karmello Branch score a game-high 18 points. It marked the the ninth time this season that Branch has led KC's scoring efforts and the 15th time that he has gone above 10 points. Branch currently leads the team with a 12.7 points per game scoring average.
- Jerome Palm went for 11 points and 12 rebounds against the Golden Eagles, notching his fourth double-double of the season and his first since going for 11 points and 12 boards against McPherson on Dec. 28. Palm is currently tied for second in the Summit in double-doubles, trailing only USD's Cameron Fens (10).
- Jayson Petty has started in all 25 games this season, bringing his total to 72 games started as a Roo. Among active Summit League players, he ranks sixth with 2,320 total minutes played for a Summit League team.
- As a team, Kansas City ranks fourth in the Summit League and 157th in the nation, averaging 11.28 offensive rebounds per game. Palm leads the Roos with 2.04 o-boards per game.
St. Thomas Notes
- St. Thomas enters Saturday's game with a 9-3 Summit League record but are coming off a 98-94 loss at the hands of Omaha on Thursday.
- Nolan Minessale leads the Summit and ranks 30th in the nation with an average of 20.1 points per game.
- The Tommies are 12th in the nation in field goal percentage, knocking down 50.9% of their field goal attempts.
- St. Thomas leads the all-time series, 6-3. Two of KC's three wins have come at the Swinney Center.
- The Tommies won the first meeting of the year, 99-64 on Feb. 1. CJ Evans led Kansas City with 16 points in that game.
