The Roos Extend Their Unbeaten Streak to Eight Games, Four Wins In A Row
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The No. 3 Kansas City Men's Soccer team extended its winning streak to four matches Wednesday evening, defeating Tulsa, 3-1, at Durwood Soccer Stadium.
Kansas City (8-1-2, 2-0-0 SL) earned its second consecutive 3-1 victory at home, picking up a win over Head Coach Ryan Pore's alma mater, the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes. The Roos also extended their unbeaten streak to eight matches.
Mark Ramarola opened the scoring in the 10th minute, finding the bottom-right corner for his fourth goal of the season. Bryce Outman and Brevyn Cole were credited with assists on the opening goal.
Tulsa answered in the 23rd minute, with leading scorer Luc Achermann-Stanfield finding the back of the net for his sixth goal of the season to even the match at 1-1.
Kansas City regained the lead 11 minutes later when Italian midfielder Gabriele Galluccio curled a shot into the back of the net in the 34th minute for his second goal of the season.
The Roos carried a 2-1 advantage into halftime despite being outshot, 6-4, through the opening 45 minutes.
Tulsa came out of the break searching for another equalizer, recording four shots in the opening 20 minutes of the second half, including two on goal. Kansas City's defense held firm, however, keeping the Golden Hurricanes off the scoreboard.
The Roos added an insurance goal in the 67th minute when fifth-year senior Raphael Kistmann slipped a shot past the Tulsa goalkeeper for his fifth goal of the season. Miguel Fernandez provided the assist on the goal.
Kistmann's fifth goal moved him back into a tie with Mariano Beunza for the team lead in goals this season.
Tulsa recorded just three shots over the remainder of the match as Kansas City closed out another home victory, extending its winning streak to four and its unbeaten streak to eight.
