Grady Goes for 21 as Roos Fall to South Dakota

Kasheem Grady II led KC's scoring efforts on 8-of-15 shooting
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Men's Basketball fell behind early and never recovered in a 99-83 loss to South Dakota on Thursday night. The Roos (4-15, 1-4 Summit League) were led by 21 points from Kasheem Grady II, who knocked down four three-pointers on the game and scored 11 of his 21 in the second half.
Grady scored efficiently from the perimeter and around the basket, going 8-of-15 from the field while finishing with a team-high seven rebounds.
CJ Evans added 14 points and three steals while continuing to attack in transition and in the half court. Evans finished 5-of-9 from the floor and was active defensively, helping Kansas City force turnovers that led to brief scoring spurts in the second half.
Chris Dockery provided 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting and pulled down four rebounds in 24 minutes. The senior forward scored consistently in the paint as Kansas City finished with 52 points in the lane.
Kansas City shot 46.5% from the field but struggled to keep pace defensively, allowing South Dakota to shoot just over 50% overall and convert 21-of-25 free throws. The Coyotes also held a 41-32 rebounding edge and scored 16 second-chance points.
The Roos scored 47 points in the second half but were unable to generate a sustained run after South Dakota pushed its lead beyond 20 midway through the period.
Kansas City returns to action Saturday, traveling to South Dakota State for a matchup with the Jackrabbits.
