Notes: Kansas City Set to Clash with Denver Saturday Afternoon

The Roos have won the last two matchups against the Pioneers on the road
Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City comes off a conference-opening loss to St. Thomas on the road. The Roos took the first set 25-23 but yielded the next three sets to the Tommies to drop the match 3-1 and fall to 0-1 in Summit League action. Â
- Historically, Kansas City has performed well on the road against the Pios, boasting a 3-2 record at Denver. The Roos have won three of the last four matchups at Denver, all in four sets, and won four of the last seven matches overall.Â
- Ledisi Kpea continues to anchor the Roos on both ends, being named to three non-conference All-Tournament teams. The R-So. is first on the team in blocks (41) while holding second position in points (124.5), kills (115), and hitting % (.266). Recently, Kpea saw a career outing vs. Saint Louis, posting 17.5 points and 15 kills on a .652 hitting % (all career-highs).
- Alaina Larson has held down the Roos defense. The ORU transfer comes into Denver recording with a four-match streak of double figure digs, including a 25-dig outing vs. Saint Louis, tied for the second most in a match in the Summit League this season. Larson's 150 total digs ranks 6th best in the conference in 2025.Â
- Ryanne Wattree brings the juice to the Roos offense. The sophomore outside hitter leads the squad in points (125.5) and kills (115) while holding third in hit% (.186) in 2025. Wattree has four matches of 10-plus kills this season with a season-best 11 vs. Radford on 8/29/25.Â
- The Roos rank second in the Summit League in digs as a team with 745 in 14 matches, only trailing South Dakota. Kansas City is also third in digs per set in the conference at 15.52 in 2025, only trailing South Dakota & South Dakota State.Â
- Kansas City comes in fourth in the conference in kills with 519 as a team in 48 sets played this season. Additionally, the Roos are fifth in the Summit League in points with 651.5 this season.Â
- Denver is 9-3 in the 2025 season. The Pios are winners of their last four matches and five of their past six. Devner swept Oral Roberts to win their first match in Summit League play.
- Before conference action, the Pioneers went 3-0 at Into the Blue Invitational to close out the non conference season with wins over Air Force, Utah Tech and Northern Colorado. Madison Winkler recorded 64 digs and Ava Reynolds led the offense with 40 kills.
- The Pioneers' 8-3 nonconference record is the best start to a season under third year head coach Megan Pendergast. Denver has gone 36-30 under Pendergast, going 14-12 in her first season (2023) and 13-15 in her second year (2024).Â
- Included in the Pios strong start in 2025 is their first SEC win in 17 years and first P4 win under Pendergast on 9/13/25 with a 3-2 win over Arkansas.Â
- Denver is second in the Summit League in hitting percentage, striking the volleyball at a .249 clip, only trailing St. Thomas for the conference lead. The Pios are also second in the Summit in assists with 556 as a team in 2025, only trailing South Dakota. Denver is third in the Summit in blocks per set at a 2.08 clip in 2025.Â
- Denver was picked fifth in the Summit League Preseason Poll, earning 36 points. Senior outside hitter Ava Reynolds and graduate student setter Izzy Rawlings were tabbed as "Players to Watch" by the conference.
