Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City Men's Soccer is on the road to open Summit League play, taking on the preseason favorite, Denver, in a rematch of the 2024 Summit League Finals. Kansas City defeated the Pioneers twice last season, two of the team's three Top-25 victories.
- The Roos are coming off a 3-0 win over Western Illinois, limiting the Leathernecks to just three shots in the entire game. The Roos attempted 18 shots of their own, the team's second-most shot attempts in a game this season.
- Jeremy Francou was named Summit League Peak Offensive Performer of the Week after scoring goals in KC's wins over SIUE and WIU. He has a team-leading five goals on the season, ranking third in the Summit League and 24th in the NCAA.
- Marc Popow picked up his first Summit League weekly honor on the defensive side after posting back-to-back shutouts, the first of his career. Through his first eight collegiate starts he is allowing a 0.88 goals against average, second-best in the league.
- Bryce Outman, Shotaro Kodama and Edin Clark each logged their first collegiate goals last week, giving Kansas City seven different goal scorers on the year.Â
Denver Notes
- Denver enters Saturday's game with a 4-5 record and is coming off two-straight losses at Portland and Seattle.
- Kyle McGowan leads the Pios with three goals and seven total points.
- Denver is whistled for just 8.89 fouls per game, the least in the Summit and 13th-least in the NCAA.
- The Roos trail 4-11-4 in the all-time series, but the tally has been more even since 2021 at 2-4-4.
- The last meeting between these two teams came in the Summit League Championship last season, where KC emerged with a 2-1 victory after a 90th minute game-winner from Elie Kisoka.
