Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City Men's Soccer is back on the road for a late-night game in San Diego on Saturday, looking to return to the win column after a loss and a draw in its last two games.
- The Roos will be playing an opponent ranked in the United Soccer Coaches' Top 25 for the fourth time this season, having already taken on (then-ranked) No. 5 SMU, No. 24 Missouri State and No. 24 Portland. Kansas City is 1-1-1 in those games so far.
- Another sign of KC's top-tier schedule so far this year - five of the six opponents that the Roos have played thus far have entered the game against KC without a loss on their record. The combined pre-game record of the Roos' opponents (including San Diego) so far this year is 14-3-4.
- Brandon McGaugh earned his first playing time of the season in the Roos' recent tie against Drake, stepping into the goal mouth to make four saves and post KC's first clean sheet of the season. Prior to that game, Marc Popow had played all of the Roos' minutes in goal.
- Jeremy Francou leads Kansas City with three goals this season, also claiming the team lead in shots (12) and shots on goal (6). Adding a pair of assists, he ranks tied for fourth in the Summit League with eight total points.
San Diego Notes
- San Diego squeaked into the most recent United Soccer Coaches' poll at No. 25, compiling a 4-1-1 record so far this year.
- Following a loss to No. 15 Duke and a draw with No. 20 Furman to begin the year, the Toreros have rattled off four-straight wins.Â
- USD has a balanced scoring output with eight separate players scoring a goal so far this year and nine logging at least one assist.
- The Toreros have the 31st-highest scoring offense in the NCAA this season and have scored three goals in three of their last four games.
- These teams have met once before, a 2-2 tie in San Diego on Sep. 16, 2005.
