Kansas City set to square off against Central Michigan, Jacksonville State, Bradley
Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City fell to Eastern Illinois, Southern Illinois and New Mexico State all in straight sets at the Saluki Bash. The Roos were outscored 161-124 in points across all three matches in Carbondale, Ill.Â
- Ledisi Kpea was named to the Saluki Bash All-Tournament Team. The redshirt-sophomore posted 22 kills on the weekend to lead the team as well as 6.5 blocks on the defensive end. Kpea notched eight kills and a .400 hitting percentage in the Roos final contest of the tournament against New Mexico State.Â
- Lyla Jones is third in the Summit League in assists with 147 on the season and fourth in assists per set sitting at 7.35 in 2025. Jones delivered a season-high 37 assists against Eastern Michigan.Â
- Chloe Kaminski is second in the Summit League in digs per set with 4.00 on the year and third in total digs with 80 in the 2025 campaign. Kaminski's season-high outing came against Eastern Michigan where the Oklahoma transfer totaled 22 digs.Â
- Kpea ranks tied for second in the Summit League in blocks with 18, just a block shy of a share for the conference lead. Kpea is slotted at eighth in blocks per set with 0.90 in 2025. Kpea has had two matches of five blocks, one against Radford and another versus EMU at the Highlander Invitational. Â
Central Michigan Notes
- Central Michigan is 2-4 in 2025. Following a 3-1 season-opening win over High Point, the Chippewas lost four straight before winning their latest contest against Milwaukee in straight sets.Â
- The Roos are 2-0 against CMU historically with a 3-0 victory in 2014 in Omaha, Neb. and a 3-1 win in 2002 in Carbondale, Ill.Â
- The Chippewas are led by first year head coach Arielle Wilson, a former USA national team member as a player. Before taking the HC job at Central Michigan, Wilson was an assistant coach at Missouri, Georgia Tech, Michigan State and DePaul. As a player, Wilson was no stranger to winning as she was a four-time national champion and three-time AVCA All-American at Penn State.Â
- Sophomore middle blocker Grace Thomas is second in the MAC in hitting percentage at .375 while also being sixth in total attacks at 72 in 2025. Senior middle blocker Abby Olin is third in the MAC in blocks per set with 1.14 and sixth in total blocks at 24 this year.Â
Jacksonville State Notes
- Jacksonville State is 3-3 this season and on a two game wins streak with victories over Ohio 3-2 and Chattanooga 3-0. The Gamecocks started off with a 3-2 win over Portland State before going on a three game losing streak to Air Force, Seattle and Cincinnati.Â
- For the first time since the turn of the century, the Roos will face the Gamecocks as the last time these two squads squared off was 1998. The Roos are 1-1 against Jacksonville State with a 3-0 win in Carbondale, Ill. and dropped the other contest in straight sets in Greensboro, N.C. in 1997.Â
- The Gamecocks are led by a championship-laden head coach in Derek Schroeder who has won five conference titles in previous stops at Samford and Mercer. Schroeder has been at Jacksonville State for three seasons and amassed 268 career wins in 17 total seasons as a head coach.Â
- Senior outside hitter Kayla Williams is second in the CUSA in kills with 95 and kills per set at 3.96 in 2025. Freshman setter Charlee Solomon is third in the conference assists per set at 8.88 and second in total assists with 213 in 2025. Senior DS/Libero Luci Wilkinson is third in the conference in digs with 110 and digs per set at 4.58 for 2025.Â
Bradley Notes
- Bradley is 3-3 in the 2025 season as the Braves have lost their last two matches 3-1 to Charlotte and 3-2 to Western Carolina. After falling to UT Arlington to open the season, the Braves went on a three game win streak with victories over Quinnipiac, Western Illinois and College of Charleston.Â
- The Roos are 3-4 against Bradley all-time. The Braves have won the past three matches since 2016. The Roos won three matches in a row from 2014-16 in which the Roos and Braves played one match per season in that stretch.Â
- Bradley is led by Alicia Williams who is in her fourth season as head coach of the Braves. In 2024, Williams guided the Braves to the largest preseason to postseason MVC poll jump in program history, going 10-8 in conference play. Before Bradley, Williams coached at Iowa Western Community College for nine years where she was a two-time NJCAA Coach of the Year and led them to numerous top three finishes.Â
- Sophomore setter Maria Drapp leads the MVC in assists per set at 8.77 and has 228 total assists in 2025 which ranks second in the league. Senior DS/Libero Irene Mostardini is first in the conference in service aces with 14 and fourth in aces per set with 0.54 in 2025.
