
Women's Soccer Brings in 13 Signees

The Roos will bring a balance of freshman and transfer talent to their 2025 roster
KANSAS CITY - With the 2025 season just around the bend, Kansas City Women's Soccer has announced the addition of 13 new student-athletes heading into the fifth year of the Jess Smith era. The signing class includes seven incoming freshmen and six transfer students.

Addie Davis is a 5'8 defender from Olathe, Kan., joining the Roos from Blue Valley West HS. During her time with the Jaguars, she was an EKL Honorable Mention performer, also earning an All-State Honorable Mention as a basketball player. Davis competed at the club level with Kansas Rush.
A transfer from Hutchinson CC, Kaitlyn Edwards brings All-American experience to the Roos' midfield. She was named a First Team All-NJCAA All-American in 2024 and earned a First Team All-KJCCC bid in both of her seasons with the Blue Dragons. She tallied 23 career goals and 13 assists in her 40 caps for Hutch.
Hayes Fitzgerald transfers to Kansas City from Missouri State, where the 5'9 goalkeeper spent the last two seasons. Originally from Overland Park, Kan., Fitzgerald played club ball with Kansas Rush '04, winning back-to-back Kansas State Cups and placing second in the Midwest Regionals.
One of two incoming Canadians, Kayla Fraser comes to Kansas City from Brampton, Ontario. She played for St. Edmund Campion, where she was named Offensive Player of the Year and earned the school's "Best Bear" award. She also competed at the club level with Rush Canada.
Geneviève Hull is a Prairie Village native and was a 2025 KASC First Team All-State honoree. She played in 15 games, scoring 26 goals and tacking on eight assists as an honorary captain for Christ Prep Academy. She was also a member of KC Athletics 2007 ECNL and KC Courage, earning 2024 ECL All-Conference honors.
Lucia Lopez Fernandez will spend her final season of collegiate soccer with the Roos, transferring in from Northwest Missouri State. She spent the last three years with the Bearcats, making 41 starts in 36 appearances. Across her three seasons, she scored four goals and dished two assists, earning CSC Academic All-District Honors in 2023 and 2024.
Anika Patton is an incoming freshman that will give the Roos depth at the goalkeeping position. The Tulsa, Okla. native graduated from Jenks HS with the school's single-season record holder in goals against average and clean sheets. She was a first team all-state performer and 2023 state champion, also earning two all-district selections.
Riley Porter comes to Kansas City after spending time at Columbia College and Johnson County CC, joining the Roos with one remaining year of eligibility. She scored 24 goals for the Cougars last season, coming within one of the program's record and earning NAIA Third Team All-American honors. She was a two-time First Team All-AMC honoree, adding a First Team All-KJCAA selection during her time with JCCC.
Joining the Roos after a decorated prep career, Rose Proteau comes to KC from Montreal, Canada. She most recently played with AS Laval, a semi-pro club in Québec, also spending time in the Montreal FC Academy and AS Blainville. At the age of 15, she was selected to the Team Québec roster and played in national competition.
A Missouri native, Ella Reyling joins the Roos after graduating from Francis Howell HS, where she was twice named the team MVP along with earning first team All-Conference honors. At the club level, she played with St. Louis Development Academy.
Joining the Roos from the other side of the state line, Lydia Safly recently graduated from Shawnee Mission West HS, where she earned Second Team All-Sunflower League Honors twice, Honorable Mention All-KSHSAA honors as a junior and Second Team All-KSHSAA honors as a senior.Â
Wrapping up the Roos' incoming class are a pair of sisters transferring from Columbia College. Delfina Zolesio Fernandez Blanco is a three-time First Team All-AMC performer and was the 2024 AMC Player of the Year and NAIA First Team All-American. In five seasons with the Cougars, she scored 50 goals and tallied 44 assists, qualifying to the NAIA National Championships all five years including a semifinal appearance in 2024.
Emilia Zolesio Fernandez Blanco is the third Columbia College transfer on-roster for KC and is the sister of Delfina. She earned First Team All-AMC honors in each of the past four seasons, adding an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American honor in 2023. Through five seasons in a Columbia uniform, she accumulated 64 total points, starting in 57-straight games across the past three years.Â
The Roos open the 2025 campaign at home against in-state rival Saint Louis on Aug. 14. KC drew with the Billikens last season, earning the program's first-ever result against a Top 25 opponent. Tickets are available now at kcroos.com/WSOCtix.
