Kansas City Notes
- No. 19 Kansas City Men's Soccer closes a three-game home stand on Monday evening, taking on Northern Illinois at Durwood Soccer Stadium. The Roos are looking to remain undefeated through four games for the first time since a 2-0-3 start to the 2017 season.
- Wade Muttitt scored the equalizing goal in Kansas City's draw with Saint Mary's, his second goal of the season. He is the first Roo with multiple goals on the season and leads the team with four shots on target.
- Kansas City out-shot the Gaels by a 22-to-6 mark on Friday evening. It marks the largest shot discrepancy in the Roos' favor that did not result in a Kansas City win since a 3-1 loss at Houston Christian on Oct. 5, 2017 that saw the Roos take 29 shots to the Huskies' 10.
- Freshman keeper Marc Popow has started all three games in goal for Kansas City and with 10 saves he is the first goalie in the Summit League to reach double-digits. His 1.33 goals against average ranks third in the Summit.
- The Roos have maintained the same starting lineup so far this season, the second consecutive year that Head Coach Ryan Pore has stuck with the same starters for the first three contests of the year. Prior to last season, the Roos had made at least one change to the starting lineup between games one and two in each of Pore's first four years.
Northern Illinois Notes
- The Huskies have also not dropped a match through their first three games of the season, boasting a 2-0-1 record entering Monday's game.
- Last season, NIU won just three games all year, including a 1-6-1 mark in Missouri Valley play.
- Katai Mukuka scored a pair of goals in the Huskies' recent 5-0 win over Western Illinois, making him the lone NIU player to score multiple goals so far this season.
- This will be the 5th all-time meeting between the Roos and the Huskies, the first that will take place in Kansas City.
- KC won the most recent match up, a 6-2 decision on Sep. 6 of last season. Elie Kisoka and Raphael Kistmann each logged a pair of goals in the win.
