Haley ranked third in the league with a 72.5 regular season scoring average
SIOUX FALLS - Kansas City's Mason Haley was named Summit League Newcomer of the Year for the 2024-25 season, as was announced by the league today. The Enid, Okla. native led the Roos and ranked third in the league in regular season scoring average, firing off an average of 72.5 strokes per round. Haley's freshman year has been marked by success, logging three top-10 finishes, earning a Summit Peak Performer of the Week honor and nabbing First Team and All-Newcomer postseason honors.Â
Haley has already placed himself within the Kansas City record books with an average of 72.43 strokes per round on the year, good for the 13th-best single-season scoring average in program history. His best round of the season came at the Everett Buick GMC Classic, logging a 6-under 66 for one of his team-high eight rounds of at-or-below par golf. His 6-under tally was tied for the best single-round score by a Roo this year and was tied for the third-best in the league. Additionally, he led KC with three top-10 finishes, placing t-8th at the K-State Wildcat Invitational, t-8th at the Lake Las Vegas Invitational and 9th at the Robert Kepler Invitational.
Haley becomes the fifth Kansas City player since 1998-99Â to win a conference Newcomer of the Year honor, the first since Lucas Dutartre did so in 2022-23.Â
