The Roos kept things close through six, but a big seventh inning put the game out of reach
KANSAS CITY - Kansas City Softball (4-24, 1-5 Summit) hung with South Dakota State (17-18, 3-0 Summit) through six innings in the series finale today, but ultimately fell short, 5-0. Hannah Burks held it down in the circle, going the first six innings without an earned run and ending the game with just three earned runs on eight hits. Gianna Lickel and Katie Noble tallied the Roos' lone hits of the day.
KEY MOMENTS
Top 2 / 0-0 | SDSU had runners on first and third with one out but Burks was able to get out of the jam, forcing a pop up to Elleana Navarro and a ground out to Leilani Bustamante.
Bottom 3 / 0-1 | After the Jackrabbits scored the first run of the day, Lickel gave Kansas City its first hit but the Roos could not do anything with it.
Top 6 / 0-1 | Burks got through the sixth inning with little trouble and kept KC within striking distance, but a four-run seventh put the game out of reach.
