The Roos and Mavericks play Saturday at 1 p.m.
THE STARTERS
- In their last meeting, the Roos defeated Omaha by one, 66-65. It marks UNO's only game that has been determined by one possession. The Roos are 1-1 in one-possession games during conference play after falling to North Dakota on Jan. 4, 63-60.
- Alayna Contreras and Emani Bennett combine for more points than any other pair during conference play. Contreras averages 19.7 points per game while Em. Bennett averages 18.8. Contreras and Bennett currently outscore the Golden Eagles' Taleyah Jones (19.7) and Jalei Oglesby (18.3) by 0.5 points per game.Â
- Em. Bennett and Kelby Bannerman both had career-high performances in the win over Denver. Em. Bennett joins Contreras and four other Summit Leaguers in the 30-point game category. Bannerman earned back-to-back career-highs knocking down 17 points against South Dakota and then improving her career-high to 21 against Denver.Â
- The Roos have maintained the same starting lineup across eight of the nine conference games. The five have combined for a 7-3 record across the season and a 3-1 record at home.Â
- Em. Bennett's 30-point performance Thursday moves the Roos to 3-0 this season with a 30-point performer. This season marks the first time since 2021-22 when the Roos have had three 30-point games. Naomie Alnata scored 30-plus points on three occasions in the 21-22 season and the Roos finished with a 23-9 record.Â
SCOUTING OMAHA
- The Mavericks will look to snap a nine-game losing skid and pick up their first road win of conference play. Omaha enters the game coming off a loss to St. Thomas in St. Paul, 62-75.Â
- Grace Cave has continued to be an offensive threat for the Mavericks, averaging 15.1 points per game and a .424 field-goal percentage in conference play. She leads the Mavericks in minutes averaging 31.0 per game.Â
- The Omaha bench has been a key contributor for the Mavericks averaging 23.5 points per game. The Omaha bench ranks 62nd nationally and third in the Summit in points per game. Oral Roberts leads the league with 27.2 bench points per game.
- Omaha's most recent win in Kansas City came on Dec. 31, 2022, when the Mavericks defeated the Roos 75-64. UNO is 3-6 when playing in the Swinney Center and 1-4 in their last five meetings in KC.Â
