Notes: Kansas City Meets Up With Northern Colorado to Open Big Sky-Summit Challenge

Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City hits the road for the first time in two weeks, bracing for a matchup against Northern Colorado in the Big Sky-Summit League Challenge. This is the Roos third time in the Sky/Summit Challenge as KC holds a 2-2 record overall. Kansas City's last victory in the event came over Weber State 61-51 on Jan. 6, 2024.Â
- Kansas City has shot the leather of the basketball from long range this season, coming into Wednesday night's contest hitting 44.3% from three point distance, the second highest three point percentage in NCAA DI hoops. The Roos also make 7.3 three pointers a game, the best mark in the Summit and top 100 nationally.Â
- Jamyah Winter is KC's leader in the clubhouse when it comes to outside shooting. Winter leads the Summit in total three pointers (24), threes per game (3.2) and three point percentage (52%) and is top 25 in the country in all three categories. Â
- Elauni Bennett is off to a breakout junior season, averaging 16.1 ppg and 7.1 rpg and being one of only three players in the Summit to average over 16 points and seven rebounds this year. Bennett holds two games of 20-plus points, one double-double and has led KC in scoring in four games.Â
- Kansas City continues to create chaos for their opponents, forcing 22 turnovers a night, 10.9 steals per contest and holding a 6.3 turnover margin, all conference best marks in the Summit League this season.
- Northern Colorado is 6-2 overall headed into the Summit/Sky Challenge after starting 5-1 with the Bears lone loss at the time coming to fellow Summit foe Denver 56-53.Â
- Northern Colorado is 3-0 in the Big Sky/Summit League Challenge, defeating St. Thomas 62-54 and North Dakota 65-47 last season. The Bears are 4-4 against the Summit League since 2023.Â
- The Bears limit their opponents to just 57.5 points a night, the second lowest mark in the Big Sky and ranking top 70 in the nation in scoring defense. On offense, UNC scores the ball at a 44.9% clip and dishes out nearly 16 assists a game, both conference-leading stats.
- Neenah George leads the Bears in scoring with 14.0 ppg, 3.1 rpg and 3.1 apg while shooting 48% from the field and 35% from three point range in her sophomore season. George has scored in double figures three games in a row and holds a season-high of 26 points vs. Lamar.Â
